"Altering The Way You View The World Of Art"
Type of Object:
    Dogon Crown

These bronze cast crown express status, prestige and
power, and features Dogon 'nommo' on the cast, a very big
    part of the Dogon society.

The crown exhibits the technical skill and artistry that Dogon
blacksmiths brought to their work. Made by the complex
traditional lost-wax process, the Dogon used metal for their
most important ritual objects as well as everyday objects,
    farming implements and weapons.

The crown has a central seated figure supported by male
and female figures alternating with vertical supports that
have zig-zag patterns all of which are typical of Dogon
    bronze work.
