TERA Gallery - African Art and Antiquities

"Altering The Way You View The World Of Art"
Type of Object:
    "TERROR"
    Shackles & Arrows
    15th c.

I accept that if we do not learn from our past, we are
destined to repeat it.  "TERROR" was created in TERA
Gallery. It  symbolizes my understanding of what "terror"
must have been for the captured humans, for those who
engaged in the slave trade, and for those who successfully
    institutionalized slavery.

These transatlantic shackles are extremely rare artifacts
used  to control, punish and humiliate the defiant African
men, women and children captured, sold and shipped to
America and other parts of the world by the Europeans.

The old iron spear points are not discussed in this
presentation, and serve as a reminder of the greatness of
    the African people.

I share these artifacts, now artistically arranged, with you
and hope that it will encourage you to love yourself and to do
unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I hope that you enjoy and appreciate the TERA Gallery, and
that  the beauty and power, and the art and history you
experience in this collection inspire you and alter the way
you view the world of art.
